A lovely spring ephemeral. It grows from a small corm and blooms with striking dark purple flowers in May. It is shorter and blooms earlier than other native delphinium as it has adapted to a woodland environment. Eastern US native.

Zone 4 -8. 6-18'. Average to moist soil, Part sun to light dappled shade. Blooms in mid-spring.
