When do you ship? We ship twice a year; in April and early October. We only ship when the plants are dormant. Click here for more Ordering Info.

Can I get my plants earlier than your shipping date?

The short answer is, No, the plants will not be ready to ship earlier. We set aside time to do all the shipping related work in the week before shipping. However, if you have a special request, feel free to ask, we might not be able to accommodate it, but we might be able to figure something out.

Can I get my plants later than your shipping date?
Maybe. It depends on many factors such as weather and timing and how much later. As always, if you have a special request, feel free to ask, we might not be able to accommodate it, but we might be able to figure something out.

What are the easiest Lady Slippers that are good for beginners?
If you’re just starting out, we recommend that you start with a variety that is easier to grow. Often these are our multi-cross hybrids as those have more Hybrid Vigor. We recommend Michael, Gisela, Kentuckiense x Candidum and Philipp.

Do you have Gift Certificates?
Yes, we have gift certificates. They are digital only. You can find them here.

Are these tropical orchids?
No, all of our plants require a cold period and are not suitable for tropical climates. The plants we sell, including the lady slipper orchids, are meant to be planted outdoors in the ground as described on our Growing Tips page. We do not recommend attempting to grow them as indoor plants or to winter them over in a warm greenhouse.

Can I grow them inside or in a pot?
We don’t recommend it. However, some experienced enthusiasts do it. More information can be found via your favorite search engine if you are so inclined.

Will deer eat my Lady Slippers?

Here at the nursery we don't have problems with deer eating the lady slippers, or anything else for that matter, (knock on wood). However, if deer are accustomed to eating out of your yard, then they are likely to eat the lady slippers. Deer will eat nearly any plant if they are hungry enough. We've heard that planting Monkshood (Aconitum) or Delphinium can help deter deer because they make the deer sick. This is something to consider planting near lady-slippers if you have a deer problem.

Do you sell seeds?
No, we do not sell seeds.

Are you open to the public?
No, we are not open to the public.

Do you sell wholesale?
We do sell wholesale to retail or re-wholesale establishements. However at this time, we are not taking on new wholesale customers who need plants delivered. If you can come to the nursery to pick plants up and are interested, let us know.
