Native to eastern Asia, this plant can be found up to 4000 ft. elevation in the Himalayas. It has shiny dark green foliage with rounded leaflets and blooms late summer with spikes of creamy white flowers. This plant has a distinct smell that is released if disturbed hence the name foetida. Some think it smells a little skunky whereas others liken it to something along the lines of a bell pepper. Medicinal uses
