Cypripedium pubescens

Cypripedium pubescens

When we ship:
We ship plants twice a year. In the spring and in the fall. We only ship when plants are dormant.

We start taking orders for Spring Shipping in early December. We start taking orders for Fall Shipping in early July. The last day to order is one week before we are set to ship.

The Spring Shipping date is set for the second week of April. We realize spring can be unpredictable, so if we need to change this date, we will let you know.

The Fall Shipping dates are the first two weeks of October. Fall weather here has been pretty consistent and we are usually able to keep to these weeks. The first week, we generally ship to zone 5 or lower. The second week we reserve for zone 6 and above.

Packaging orders:
Lady-slippers are dug before shipping and washed. We then place them in a bag with dampened potting soil to keep them protected during shipping. Each bag will be labeled as to what is inside.
Most fall-shipped wildflowers have spent the summer as potted plants, but some are bare root and dug out of raised beds. The latter will be shipped like the lady-slippers. Potted plants are removed from the pots to assess size and health of plant before shipping to make sure they are up to our standards. Depending on the plant, we will shake all the soil off and ship bare root like the lady-slippers or we will ship it as a well rooted pot shaped ball in a plastic bag with soil around the roots. We’ve found that removing the pots protects the more fragile bare root plants in shipping because the heavy pots are not banging around the package. It also allows us to reuse the pots.

Pot sizes are as follows:
3.5” deep pots: dimensions 3.5” square x 3 7/8” deep
quart pots: dimensions 4”square x 5 in deep
½ gallon pots: dimensions 5.25” square x 5.25” deep
gallon pots: dimensions 7.75” diameter x 7” deep

When Plants Arrive:
If necessary, plants can be kept for a week or two in the refrigerator if you need to wait until conditions are right for planting. Planting instructions will accompany your order.

Cancelling an Order:
We understand that sometimes plans or circumstances change and that it may be necessary to cancel an order. We will fully refund any order cancelled 10 days or more prior to the first shipping date. Any orders cancelled within 10 days of the first shipping date will be refunded subject to a restocking fee of $3 per plant.
